FIFA 2010 World Cup

Japan played Cameroon in South Africa on Monday, but unfortunately the Puma Team lost 1-0, although they looked great in their PUMA kits! Also in the Japan v Cameroon, Japan’s Goalie Eiji Kawashima fully kitted with PUMA Tricks Gloves and Puma PWR-C 3.10 Tricks Boots. The Netherlands met Denmark on Monday, Van der Wiel looked great in the Puma PWR-C 3.10 Tricks Boots (Netherlands won 2–0). Also on Monday 14th June, Italy played Paraguay. Italy had a rather disappointing match. Buffon came off injured at half-time, but Italy’s defender Georgio Chiellini is wearing the Puma PWR-C 3.10 Tricks Boots.

On Wednesday the shock of the tournament so far as PUMA team Switzerland beat European Champions Spain 1-0!

On Friday, England and Algeria drew 0 – 0 in South Africa, Peter Crouch came on for the final couple of minutes but couldn't score the goal England were looking for.

On Saturday 19th June, Cameroon lost against Denmark on Saturday (1–2), but at least Puma player Samuel Eto’o scored.

Sunday 20th June, Italy played the All Whites (New Zealand) and drew 1–1, which makes Italy second in their group at the moment.

Ivory Coast played Brazil also on Sunday. Ivory Coast was wearing their PUMA away kit, but unfortunately they lost against the 6-times World Cup Champions (1-3).

Rugby Union

Internationals

On Friday 18th June 2010, Ireland lost against New Zealand Maoris (28 - 31).  On Saturday England returned to the Telstra Stadium in Sydney, where they won the Rugby World Cup in 2003 against Australia.  The end result was no different this time either as England beat Australia (21 – 20), with Puma sponsored player Nick Easter in the England line-up.

Rugby League

Sunday 29th June, Genesis Sports Puma Licensee team St Helens beat local rivals and league leaders Wigan 26 – 24 at the JJB stadium.

England Athletics

European Teams

Great coverage at this Puma sponsored event on BBC 2 Sat and Sun afternoon. Great Branding around the stadium and all officials in Puma uniform. Fantastic performances from Eilidh Child and Richard Buck. Both were interviewed by Jonathan Edwards. Richard got the fastest British time in the 4 X 400m relay and was described as "the strong man of 400m running" by commentator Paul Dickenson. Eilidh beat a host of European superstars including some of her role models and in doing so surprised the commentators and statisticians.

England Athletics U23 and U20 Champs

Again great branding at Bedford last weekend in this Championship event, with all officials in Puma uniform and branding around the arena.

World Cup Screenings

Puma UK has collaborated with the iconic record shop ‘Rough Trade’ in East London. ‘Rough Trade East’ will be showing World Cup matches and live African music in their shop. Over the next 4 weeks, Africa Express and music store Rough Trade East will celebrate the FIFA World Cup with a series of in-store match screenings fused with African inspired live performances and DJ sets. All friends of Puma are invited to come down and watch a match!
