Football
The Premier League
Tottenham began their week with a 2-1 win over Arsenal in the North London derby on Wednesday evening. That win kept up their hope of a Champions League finish and all but ended Arsenals title chances. Chelsea took a commanding 4 point lead at the top of the table on Tuesday. Nicolas Anelka, who wears the PUMA V1.10 Speed Boot , scored the only goal in their 1-0 win over Bolton. However, the title race was blown wide-open once again at the weekend. In the Manchester derby, Puma player Shay Given conceded in the 93rd minute as Manchester Utd beat City 1-0. Nemanja Vidic played a key part in the Reds victory as they piled the pressure back on Chelsea.
Tottenham entertained Chelsea at White Hart Lane on Saturday evening. The Puma side won the contest 2-1 cutting Chelsea’s gap at the top to a solitary point. Back to back home wins and City’s defeat left Tottenham in 4th place, 2 points clear of City with just 4 games remaining in the battle for a final Champions League spot. John Carew continued a fine run of form scoring Aston Villa’s first in a 2-1 win over Portsmouth.
Championship
Championship Tuesday evening saw Newcastle beat Reading 2-1 at the Madjeski which ended Readings surge to the playoffs. Reading did however bounce back and hit six past relegated Peterborough on Saturday afternoon in 6-0 win.
Bristol City lost 3-0 to Scunthorpe at Glandford Park on Saturday. Cardiff now have their sights on finishing 3rd after a 1-0 away victory at QPR. Coventry picked up a point at home, after a 1-1 draw against Preston at the Ricoh Arena. In the Sheffield derby, Sheffield Wednesday earned a point against Utd in a 1-1 draw. They still remain 3rd bottom with just 2 games left.
Rugby Union
Puma side Bath beat Sale 34-15 at The Rec on Saturday. Try scorers for Bath included Puma players Lee Mears and David Barnes. Bath will look to maintain a play-off place when the entertain Northampton at The Rec on Tuesday night.
Rugby League
Castleford suffered a surprise defeat in the Challenge Cup as they were beaten 34-28 at home to lower league side, Barrow. St Helens made light work of Toulouse to progress to the next round. St Helens ran in 10 tries in a 56-16 win at Knowsley Road.
Cricket
In the final round of IPL matches, Deccan Chargers made their way to the Semi-Finals. The Chargers finished 2nd in the table after the conclusion of the group matches. The other Puma side, Rajhastan Royals, ended the competition second from bottom and missed out on a semi-final place.
